Abstract

This article systematically presents comprehensive clinical and instrumental methods for evaluating the functional status of periodontal tissues in patients with dental arch trema. A trema — a pathological space between teeth — creates a specific load distribution pattern affecting gingival tissues and periodontal structures. A complex evaluation protocol encompassing clinical indices, functional tests, instrumental and laboratory methods, including rheography, laser Doppler flowmetry, biomechanical load analysis, and immunological parameters is described. The study involved 80 adult patients (18–55 years). It was established that in patients with large trema (>4 mm), all clinical, hemodynamic, and laboratory indicators progressively worsen compared to normal.
